Review of English Grammar:

Verb phrases, prepositional phrases, infinitive phrases; main clauses and subordinate clauses; simple sentences, compound sentences; complex sentences; subordinate conjunctions; coordinating conjunctions; appositives; reflexive pronouns, interrogative pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, indefinite pronouns, relative pronouns, personal pronouns: antecedents, cases, agreement and order; passive voice of verbs; Roman numerals, cardinal numbers, ordinal numbers; demonstrative adjectives and pronouns.

Latin Vocabulary and Grammar:

Over 200 new Latin words are introduced which are derivatives for more than 1000 English words; comprehensive review of Volume I: nouns/declensions, verbs/conjugations, adjectives of first and second declension, prepositions and phrases, adverbs, questions, Latin syntax, guides for easy translation (Latin to English/English to Latin); mastery of the second and third conjugation of verbs, in both active and passive voices, all 6 tenses of each voice; coordinating conjunctions; Latin idioms; third declension nouns in all genders; third declension i-stem nouns in all genders; appositives; personal pronouns: agreement and order; third declension adjectives in all genders; predicate accusative; dative used with adjectives; numerals: cardinal and ordinal; prepositional phrases: ablative of personal agent, ablative of time when, ablative of time within which, accusative of duration of time, ablative of separation; objective genitive; partitive genitive; demonstrative adjectives and pronouns.

Word Studies:

History of common Latin verbs; history of the imperium; derivatives of third declension nouns; English spelling hints and helps; histories of common third declension i-stems; importance of the perfect passive participle as derivative clue; suffixes; adverbs formed from adjectives; Latin law phrases in use today; counting in Latin; developing word sense; compound verbs.

Readings:

The students have the ability to translate all the reading this year from Latin into English. These readings include scriptural references from the Latin Vulgate, and historical themes.
